Change of IFOAM – Organics International Executive Director
CHANGE OF IFOAM - ORGANICS INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
From 01/08/2022, Marco Schlüter takes over the role as new Executive Director of IFOAM – Organics International, replacing Louise Luttikholt who was in charge of leading the association for over four years. The World Board has appointed Marco Schlüter for this role on an interim basis until the next Biofach in 2023. His main assignment will be to lead the organisation through this period and the process of defining a new strategy, and to consolidate the financial situation of the organisation.
“We want to thank Louise for her dedicated work in difficult times, bringing the association through the Covid 19 crisis and strengthening the institutional framework”, says Karen Mapusua, IFOAM – Organics International’s President. “We are glad that we could engage with Marco, an experienced organic leader who can help to bring us through this challenging time. The World board thanks his current organisation, Naturland e.V., for the generous arrangement.”

In a changing world in permanent crisis, with successfully developing regional bodies and sector groups and an organic movement needed more than ever, it is now time to open a new chapter for the organisation. Together with a very active World Board, a fantastic membership, and dedicated staff, we have all the ingredients to manage this challenge”, Marco Schlüter points out.
Currently working as the managing director for International Affairs and Strategy at Naturland, Marco joined the World Board of IFOAM – Organics International in September 2021. He will act as Interim Executive Director on a part time basis until Biofach 2023, as already stated. Marco looks back on a long and successful track record in the organic sector including Director of IFOAM Organics Europe from 2003 to 2016.
